Faith FAQ: How Should We Respond When God Does Not Heal?
A. It is God’s will to heal.
Sickness and death entered into the world because of sin.
Romans 5
12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
Sickness is seen as a bad and negative thing in scripture.
Healing is seen as a blessing
Sickness seen as a curse
One of the names of God is Jehovah Rapha
Exodus 15:26
26 If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.
B. Jesus shows us the Father’s heart to heal
If you have seen Me, you have seen the father. John 14:8-9
Jesus says He can only do what He sees the father doing.
John 5
19 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.
Jesus was moved with compassion and healed the sick Matthew 14:14
Jesus teaches when healing comes to someone the Kingdom of God has come upon them.
Luke 10
9 Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
C. Jesus teaches His followers to pray for people to be healed
Whoever believes in me will do the same works I have done John 14:12
Whoever is a universal term.
When He goes to the Father, He sends His Spirit.. It is His spirit working through us.

D. Healing is in the atonement.
Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he has borne our grief, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
His payment on the cross purchased both forgiveness for our sin and healing for our bodies. I Peter 2:24 and Matthew 8:16-17
We will not experience the complete fullness of God’s benefits until He returns. (1 Corinthians 15)
A. We resolve to trust that God is sovereign.
James 4:13-16
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

D. Evaluate James 5:14-16
14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
Evaluate if there is any sin in my life that may be preventing me from receiving healing.
Do I have faith that God can heal me? Am I truly seeking and asking for healing?
Is there a greater lesson that I am supposed to learn and grow from?
Keep praying and keep pursuing healing.
A. Pray for the sick with the expectation that they will be healed.
B. If you are sick, come and seek prayer believing you can be healed. (Luke 8:48)
C. Seek prayer from church leaders and anoint with oil.
D. Lay hands on each other and believe in faith
