Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Philippians 3:13-14 ESV
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Reflect on God's Faithfulness (Look Back with Gratitude)
Lamentations 3:22-23 – “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
Take an inventory of blessings, answered prayers, and God’s sustaining grace despite challenges.
2. Embrace a New Season (Let Go of the Past)
Forgetting doesn’t mean erasing memories; it means refusing to let the past define us or hold us back.
As we move forward, we must release the weight of past failures, hurts, and regrets.
Let go of regrets by trusting in God’s forgiveness (1 John 1:9).
“ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Release grudges through forgiveness (Ephesians 4:31-32).
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Stop dwelling on past successes that may prevent you from seeking new victories.
3. See the New Thing God is Doing (Press on with vision)
God is constantly at work, but we must learn to perceive it.
Recognizing God’s “new thing” requires spiritual awareness and faith.
Jeremiah 29:11 — “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
Ask God to open our spiritual eyes to His plans.
Be willing to step out of our comfort zone to embrace the new opportunities He provides.
4. Pursue God’s Purpose and Hope for the Future (Hope in Impossible Situations)
God specializes in bringing hope to barren places—making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
No situation is too hard for God. He can transform our difficulties into opportunities for His glory.
Trust God in seasons of uncertainty.
Surrender control and let Him lead you through the “wilderness” of life.
Remember that God’s provision often comes in unexpected ways.
Example: Peter.
John 21
15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16 He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
