Defusing the Devices of the Devil - Chandy John

Notes Here: ⬇️

2 Corinthians 2:11

lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices

Bible doesn't say we have to be fearful of his devices but Don't be ignorant of his devices.

‘Defusing Devil’s Devices’

Revelation 12:9

9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

John 8:44

44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

2 Corinthians 11:3

3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the [a]simplicity that is in Christ.

The nature of his works

  1. He blinds and corrupts the minds of the people

  2. He comes as an Angel of light

  3. He deceives the world with lies

  4. He is an accuser of the brethren

  5. He steals, kills and destroys

Some of the major devices

  1. Misdirection of priorities

  2. Isolation of thoughts

  3. Pride, Sex, Money

  4. Addiction and strongholds

  5. Depression and persecution

Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”

  • Jezebel’s words caused FEAR in Elijah.

  • Fear caused ANXIETY.

  • Anxiety caused ISOLATION.

  • Isolation caused DEPRESSION.

  • Depression caused desire to die, (suicide).

Three Keys to Defusing Devil’s Devices

1. Renewal of Mind

Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”.

2. Praying in the spirit

Ephesians 6:18

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

3. Applying the blood and declaring our testimony.

Revelation 12:11

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Psalms 91: 14-16 – IF WE TAKE REFUGE IN GOD

  • 1. “I will rescue you…” ( bring relief, cause to escape)

  • 2. “I will answer you…” (respond when we speak)

  • 3. “I will be with you in trouble…” (in afflictions, in distress)

  • 4. “I will deliver you…” (free, release, to bring into safety)

  • 5. “I will honor you…” (to make strong, give favor)

  • 6. “I will satisfy you with long life…” (to fulfill all our days, finish our race)

  • 7. “I will show you my salvation.” (abundant life, victory, complete)
